Grow your skills with a Marine HVAC industry leader as we support your progress from a general labourer through an apprenticeship to a Sheet Metal Journeyperson. We have several opportunities available and want to invest in you! We will provide support with registration as an apprentice, leaves of absence for attending school as well as training and mentoring to ensure your success.

As a pre-apprentice you will support experienced and skilled Red Seal Journeypersons as you learn the ins and outs of the Sheet Metal trade as an HVAC installer at the Halifax shipyard. If you are mechanically inclined, able to have regular attendance, have an enthusiastic approach to work and learning, and want to contribute to daily project activities by installing HVAC solutions aboard ships, we want to meet you!

Responsibilities:
THE ROLE:
Reporting to the Installation Manager, our General Labourerswill work in collaboration with the Halifax installation Sheet Metal team.
Supporting the Sheet Metal Journeypersons installing HVAC Ducting and Equipment by:
- Loading and unloading materials and equipment.
- Keeping the work area clean, safe and organized.
- Lift and carry materials as needed.
- Perform specialized tasks once you have been provided with on-the job training
- Drive industrial vehicles to transfer materials.

WHAT WILL YOU BRING TO THE ROLE?
- A background that you can build a career on – working in construction or otherwise demonstrating mechanical aptitude
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in confined spaces
- Knowledge of building materials and practices
- Attention to detail, good eye-hand coordination; and familiarity with power and hand tools
- Good work quality and ability to work steadily to meet project timelines
- No criminal record, must be able to meet security clearance requirements
All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and a Canadian Government Security clearance.
