GENERAL LABOURER JOB POSTING JOB SUMMARY The Labourer is responsible for performing a variety of physical tasks to support construction and maintenance activities. This role contributes to the efficient progress and successful completion of projects by assisting with site preparation, material handling, demolition, and supportive duties for skilled trades. The position requires a strong work ethic, physical stamina, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. The Labourer reports to the Site Supervisor. This position requires flexibility to travel and work at various construction sites throughout British Columbia, often with extended shifts and overtime. KEY RESPONSIBLITIES * Assist with site setup and preparation, including clearing debris and assembling temporary structures (scaffolding, barricades). * Load, unload, transport, and store construction materials, tools, and equipment. * Provide support to skilled trades (carpenters, masons, electricians, plumbers) by holding materials, operating equipment, and assisting as needed. * Mix, pour, and spread concrete; assist with placement and finishing. * Safely perform demolition tasks and remove debris using hand tools, power tools, and equipment. * Operate basic machinery and tools such as drills, saws, jackhammers, and compactors under supervision. * Follow all safety protocols and wear PPE at all times to maintain a safe work environment. * Maintain a clean and organized worksite, including removal of waste and debris. * Perform additional tasks as directed by the Site Supervisor or Project Manager. SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS * Physically fit and able to perform demanding tasks such as lifting heavy objects and standing for long periods. * Previous experience in construction or as a labourer is an asset but not required. * Familiarity with construction tools and machinery preferred. * Strong hand-eye coordination and ability to follow instructions. * Basic problem-solving skills. * Awareness of safety regulations and procedures on construction sites. * Reliable, punctual, and committed to teamwork. WORK ENVIRONMENT * Work performed primarily on construction sites, often in loud, dusty, or hazardous conditions. * Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds or more. * Perform climbing, balancing, walking, and other physical activities as required. * May require working at heights, in confined spaces, or in various weather conditions. * Work for extended periods outdoors in varying weather conditions. * Shifts are typically 10–12 hours, with overtime expected COMPENSATION & BENEFITS * $21.00 - $26.00 per hour (based on experience). * Overtime, LOA and Milage Compensated. * Apprenticeship program and on-the-job training. * Referral bonus program. * Annual safety allowance. * Employee Assistance Program (EAP). * Team building activities and initiatives. * Opportunities for professional growth and development. * A collaborative, innovative work environment.
