General Labourer Position Title: General Labourer Compensation: Hourly Department: Operations Status: Full Time Supervisor: General Foreman Regular Hours of Work: 40 hours per week Location: Edmonton Functional Summary Reporting to the General Foreman, the General Labourer is required to perform general labour and maintenance work and comply with workplace safety regulations and other Company policies and procedures. Responsibilities, Duties and Tasks Working under the direction and Supervision of the Shop Foreman, your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 1. Workplace Safety * Promotes and practices safety in the work place at all times to ensure the health of oneself and others * Complies with all safety rules and practices as set by Occupational Health and Safety, WBM and any and all other relevant safety regulations and requirements 2. General Labour * Assist in various areas of the shop * Material handling and moving parts throughout shop * Organize and itemize pieces * Grind parts using hand grinder 3. Maintenance * Clean and maintain the work areas and equipment * Clean and maintain the yard and storage areas * Perform painting duties * Immerse metal products in cleaning solutions 4. Other Duties * Performs other duties as required Qualifications Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Experience * Relevant experience is an asset Knowledge * Knowledge of general safety practices * General knowledge of basic tools and equipment Skills * Mechanical inclination with manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination skills * Communication skills to read, write, listen, and speak in a clear and concise manner * Interpersonal skills work collaboratively and cooperatively with others * Time management skills to productively complete work and meet all expected deadlines Abilities * Learns quickly and is willing to ask questions * Safety conscious * Follows instructions thoroughly and uses good judgment * Demonstrates strong work ethics (attendance, punctuality, reliability, honesty, etc.) * Physically fit to lift items weighing up to 35 lbs.
