JOB DETAILS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Clackamas County has an opening for an Accountant 1 to join our Department of Finance’s General Ledger (GL) Team. This entry-level professional role provides hands-on experience with core accounting functions and serves as a great stepping stone toward long-term growth in governmental accounting. If you are someone who thrives on accuracy and enjoys working with numbers, this opportunity provides a meaningful career in public service.
In this role, you will contribute to the county’s month-end and year-end close processes, complete detailed account reconciliations, and assist with audits and the development of workpapers. You will support the preparation of financial reports, monitor compliance with accounting standards and internal policies, and help ensure financial data is accurate, timely, and useful for management decisions. Your work will also include responding to department inquiries and performing general ledger duties that support the preparation of the county’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.
The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in accounting principles and a strong eye for detail. You are comfortable working independently but also know when to ask questions or collaborate with your team. You take pride in the integrity of your work, can manage multiple priorities, and communicate clearly with both financial and non-financial audiences.
