Are you an experienced General Manager from an SME, who has also worked in a larger Group reporting structure, with extensive people, operational, commercial and culture leadership skills? This established and highly successful organisation is a leader in their niche market and needs your proven commercial acumen and heavy industry productivity experience, to drive and motivate the team and establish a positive and inclusive culture.
Your Opportunity
Reporting to the Group Managing Director in Sydney, you will manage a cross functional team (warehousing, service, operations, sales, administration) and be responsible for establishing a productive culture. Your role will drive strategic, commercial and operational success, of the Newcastle business.
You will use your extensive commercial, operational and leadership skills to guide a well established team during a period of cultural, process and productivity change.
Setting up an inclusive, engaged and accountable culture at all levels in your team, is a large focus of this role.
Your leadership skills must empower the team to continue to take care of day-to-day activities whilst helping them embrace a new focus on productivity and accountability for the continued growth and success of your business unit and the group as a whole.
Your proven strategic, planning and implementation skills must be demonstrated so you can ensure the right culture, processes and resources are in place to deliver and execute the organisation's short and long term revenue, productivity and growth goals.
You will build outstanding and effective relationships internally and externally to ensure best practice processes are in place to successfully and efficiently fill and grow orders, as well as support the tender processes and day to day operations as required.
There is a strong requirement to understand the management of labour hours and how to reach target productivity rates. You will need to be able to demonstrate success in measuring and improving service productivity in a similar industry and be across industry specific compliance and safety.
It is essential you can demonstrate what commercial success looks like in a heavy industry product and service based business.
As the GM of this critical business unit, you will work closely with the Group CFO in Sydney, and manage the day-to-day cashflow, budget v actuals and margin analysis. Strong business and commercial acumen and proven ability to use to analytical tools to work with data and demonstrate risks and opportunities, is essential.
As part of the Group Senior Leadership Team, you will collaborate across various corporate wide issues, projects and initiatives, whilst building and driving your team and business unit to success.
