Are you a natural leader who loves people, thrives on service, and isn’t afraid to roll up your sleeves? We’re on the lookout for a General Manager to join us at Artist Residence Penzance – our 20-bedroom boutique hotel, restaurant, and bar by the sea.
This is a role for someone who’s as happy hosting guests and running the floor as they are coaching, motivating, and building a team. It’s seasonal, so at times you’ll be working solo, and in summer you’ll lead a small but mighty team of 5–6 – creating a great atmosphere, driving service standards, and making sure every guest leaves smiling.
The Role

As General Manager, you’ll be:

• Leading from the front – hands-on across hotel, restaurant, and bar operations.
• Training, coaching, and motivating the team to deliver excellent service with warmth and charm.
• Running smooth shifts – from opening the hotel to closing the bar, and everything in between.
• Keeping standards high – ensuring the hotel, restaurant, and bar are always looking their best.
• Driving efficiency and organisation – cash-ups, ordering, rotas, and reporting done right.
• Creating memorable guest experiences – bringing personality, presence, and genuine hospitality to every interaction.
• Working a variety of shifts (including weekends) to meet the needs of the business.

About You

• A confident, hands-on leader who inspires others.
• Great with people – you’ve got natural warmth, charm, and hosting ability.
• Organised, efficient, and pragmatic – you spot problems and solve them quickly.
• Experienced in hospitality, with some hotel experience helpful (but not essential).
• Happy to work solo at times, but equally capable of leading a team in peak season.
• Ideally local to Penzance or nearby – this role needs someone who’s not facing a long commute.
