Job Purpose: The General Manager is responsible for the overall management and day-to-day business activities of the Dealership/Region, including business development, sales and management control. They are responsible for achieving financial performance targets and business objectives. Key Accountabilities (Core Responsibilities) § Build and develop the business within the region, creating customer value through market development, promotion of after sales services and sale of new and used commercial vehicles. § Responsible for the day-to-day activity of the Dealership, development of the organization structure and efficient allocation of tasks and resources, ensuring a structured and organized way of working with defined routines and procedures. § Manage the Dealership’s business planning process, developing strategies and establishing financial and operational targets and objectives, in consultation with senior management, ensuring the overall goals of the company are being met. § Establish a management structure within the Dealership, conducting regular management meetings to monitor Dealership performance against set targets and objectives, reporting on trends and activities in the market place, and putting in place a continuous improvement approach. § Build and develop customer relationships within the region ensuring customer needs are being met, and services developed to meet the future needs of the customer. § Responsible for people management in the Dealership/Region, including: - Recruitment of qualified employees - Ongoing development and training for employees to meet the demands of the business - Performance assessments and development discussions conducted annually - Assessing staff satisfaction through employee surveys and feedback § Support and promote a safe and healthy work environment, ensuring compliance with all Health and Safety regulations and ongoing development of safety policies and procedures. § Ensure that all employees are informed of the company’s vision and core values, financial position and performance, products and working methods. § Develop the Dealership culture based on the brand values and mission, leading and motivating staff to achieve business objectives. § Ensure departments work in cooperation with each other and the wider Business Unit through open and effective communication. § Ensure that the Dealership complies with all Company policies, procedures and processes as well as laws and regulations. Promote and work with the brand Dealer Operating Manuals and to ensure uniform quality standards in all areas of the business Requirements Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, preferably with an Engineering background. Proven business acumen and experience in a similar leadership role. Minimum of 10 years of managerial and leadership experience, ideally within the heavy vehicle, truck, or related industry. Aftersales experience is an advantage. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong knowledge of the heavy truck and bus industry. Excellent negotiation and influencing skills. High level of analytical thinking, innovation, and business insight. Solid finance background with proven budgeting and forecasting capabilities. Strong people management and leadership skills. Clear understanding of management accounts and performance indicators. Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines. Demonstrated ability to identify and pursue business development opportunities. Proactive, self-motivated, and able to perform effectively under pressure. Skilled in building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships. Fluent in English (spoken and written). Proficient in general computer applications and business systems. Benefits Why Join SMG?
