COALHOUSE is an exciting new restaurant concept in Cheltenham, created by restaurateur/chef Lewis Spencer and co-owned by Jay Rahman/JM Socials . Located in the former Mayflower restaurant, COALHOUSE is a Smokehouse and Taproom serving authentic American barbecue, craft beers, and vibrant cocktails across two floors. We are passionate about delivering great food, drinks, and hospitality in a lively, welcoming environment.
The Role We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of COALHOUSE. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has a genuine passion for hospitality, and can inspire a team to deliver exceptional service.

• Oversee the daily running of the restaurant, bar, and service operations.
• Recruit, train, and manage a high-performing front-of-house team
• Drive sales and profitability while maintaining excellent guest satisfaction.
• Ensure smooth coordination between kitchen and front-of-house teams.
• Monitor and manage stock levels, ordering, and supplier relationships.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and compliance with health & safety regulations.
• Implement and uphold company policies, procedures, and service standards.
• Lead by example, creating a positive workplace culture.
• Manage budgets, rotas, and reporting to ownership.
