Description
The General Manager-PNG is P&O’s senior representative in country and is responsible for all aspects of our PNG fleet of vessels to deliver safe, cost effective, timely and high quality services to meet the contractual requirements of P&O Maritime Logistics. This includes operational capability, safety and pollution prevention, management of all allocated vessels and contracts. Additionally, the incumbent will lead and grow the BU team to achieve its goals and deliver “Global Maritime Excellence”. Minimum Qualifications: Master or Chief Engineer class 1 certificate of currency ISM Auditor accreditation (ISM/ISO/ISPS Auditor preferred) Minimum Experience: Substantial experience in shore-based ship management Experience in the management of bulk carriers and oil tankers including areas of technical, human resources, industrial, budget development and control, operations and compliance Demonstrated knowledge of Quality and Safety Management systems in the marine industry Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant software applications Job-Specific Skills/Attributes: Well-developed leadership and management skills Sound financial management skills High level analytical and problem solving skills High level communication and interpersonal skills including report writing Effective time management and organisational skills Able to work under pressure and respond to changing work demands Strong customer service orientation
