QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality, or a related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership role within the hospitality, entertainment, or events industry.
  • Proven track record of managing large teams and achieving financial targets.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in budgeting, financial reporting, and performance metrics.

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

The General Manager (GM) is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and overall performance of Illuminarium Toronto. This role ensures the delivery of exceptional guest experiences, operational excellence, and financial success while maintaining alignment with corporate objectives and brand standards. The GM will lead a multidisciplinary team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and innovation across all departments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to all department heads and staff.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, teamwork, and accountability.
  • Manage hiring, training, development, and performance reviews for team members.
  • Ensure efficient daily operations of the venue, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Monitor maintenance, cleanliness, and safety standards to deliver a world-class guest experience.
  • Oversee event planning and execution in collaboration with the Events and Groups Manager.
  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
  • Monitor revenue and expenses to ensure profitability.
  • Implement cost-control measures while maintaining service quality.
  • Uphold Illuminarium’s commitment to delivering immersive and memorable guest experiences.
  • Handle guest feedback and resolve escalated issues promptly.
  • Work with the Marketing Manager to develop and execute strategies to attract new visitors.
  • Collaborate with corporate leadership to align venue goals with global strategy.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, community partners, and vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with local labor laws, health and safety regulations, and corporate policies.
  • Prepare and present operational and financial reports to CFO and other stakeholders.
