General Manager - Information Technology

The Opportunity
An established and growing Australian healthcare organisation is seeking a General Manager - Information Technology to lead its technology function through its next stage of maturity and growth.
Reporting directly to the CEO and sitting on the Executive Leadership Team, this role has enterprise-wide responsibility for technology strategy, infrastructure, applications, Enterprise Architecture, service management, cyber governance, data and vendor partnerships.
The immediate mandate is to strengthen the technology foundations, improve visibility and governance, and establish a clear strategy and roadmap for the future. Longer term, the role will help shape how AI, automation and emerging technology support growth and the future delivery of healthcare.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Architecture
- Define and execute the enterprise IT and data strategy.
- Own the technology roadmap and Enterprise Architecture.
- Establish architecture standards, principles and governance.
- Align technology investment with business strategy and growth.
- Provide strategic technology advice to the CEO and ELT.
IT Operations & Applications
- Lead approximately 15 technology professionals across IT Operations/Infrastructure and Development/Applications.
- Improve the reliability, resilience and performance of core technology services.
- Oversee infrastructure, cloud, networks, applications and integrations.
- Ensure technology can support a growing, multi-site healthcare environment.
- Drive continuous improvement across technology operations and delivery.
Governance & Performance
- Establish clear KPIs, SLAs and service performance measures.
- Provide transparent reporting to the CEO and ELT across performance, risk, investment and delivery.
- Mature IT processes, policies and service management.
- Strengthen disaster recovery and business continuity capability.
Cyber Security & Risk
- Provide leadership and governance across cyber security and technology risk.
- Ensure appropriate protection of sensitive patient, clinical and corporate information.
- Work with external security partners to continually assess and improve cyber posture.
- Ensure technology risks are clearly understood and communicated at Executive level.
Vendors & Commercial Management
- Own technology sourcing strategy and key build, buy and partner decisions.
- Manage strategic relationships with vendors and MSPs.
- Establish clear vendor performance measures and governance.
- Ensure technology partnerships deliver strong service and value for money.
