    The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a General Manager, Major Offenders Unit, to provide a critical role within Major Offenders Unit, Sentence Management Division.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A relevant tertiary qualification is desirable but not mandatory.
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The General Manager is responsible for providing strategic direction to the unit and for the delivery of the day-to-day operations of the Major Offenders Unit. The position is based in Ravenhall and may require travel to a variety of Corrections Victoria facilities across the state.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Lead a team of staff to effectively assess, classify and determine sentence planning and placement for people considered major offenders within Victoria’s prison system.
  • Develop, manage and deliver best practice sentence management processes including assessment, classification, review, placement, and transfer functions to ensure timely, secure, safe and appropriate placement and intervention for individuals.
  • Develop, manage and ensure the quality of delivery of sentence management functions ensuring that sentence planning and practices are consistently applied statewide, in accordance with policies and procedures - including Commissioner’s Requirements, Deputy Commissioner’s Instructions and the Sentence Management Manual.
