Description

Ginoogaming First Nation is seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to lead and support the Nation’s administrative departments. Reporting directly to the Band Manager, the General Manager will play a pivotal role in guiding departmental staff, strengthening HR functions, and ensuring operational excellence across programs and services. This leadership position is ideal for someone passionate about community development, organizational growth, and fostering a positive workplace culture.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures relating to First Nations administration.
  • Strong knowledge of HR functions including but not limited to policy development and implementation, coaching and guiding, performance management, skill building, team work and accountability.
  • Excellent people-management acumen including good negotiation and facilitation skills.
  • Strong team leadership and management skills with demonstrated ability to coach and mentor others to build accountability, skills and capacity.
  • Good financial and operations management skills.
  • Ability to establish good working relationships, both internally and with external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage conflict using sound judgement.
  • Effective written and oral communications skills including use of software applications such as MS products.
  • Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Demonstrate a dedication to the role and to the Community.

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in public sector administration, human resources management, management or other related field is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of prior people and operational management and related experience, ideally in a management role within a First Nations organization, with demonstrated expansion of responsibility.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Be a role model to fellow staff by following and enforcing all policies and procedures.
  • Display a commitment to the values and culture of Ginoogaming First Nation.
  • Ability to provide a clear criminal record check.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada.
