About the role

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the General Manager of Hospitality is a newly created senior leadership position with overall accountability for the organisation’s hospitality operations. The role brings together the key customer-facing and trading functions of the business under a single point of leadership and accountability. This includes oversight of beverage, gaming, catering and accommodation operations, with multiple departmental managers and their supervisory teams reporting through the General Manager of Hospitality.

This is not a replacement role and there is no inherited template to follow. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the position, strengthen the leadership structure and build a high-performing hospitality function capable of supporting the organisation’s continued growth.

We are seeking an experienced hospitality leader who understands what operational excellence looks like and, just as importantly, knows how to create the culture, systems and leadership disciplines required to deliver it consistently.

You will provide clear direction to managers, establish and maintain high standards, develop capability across the leadership team and ensure accountability throughout the operation. Your focus will extend beyond day-to-day service delivery to include commercial performance, customer experience, workforce effectiveness, operational discipline and continuous improvement.

Ultimately, this role is responsible for ensuring that every member, guest and visitor experiences a professional, welcoming and consistently high-quality hospitality operation, supported by a team that understands what excellence means and takes pride in delivering it.

Key responsibilities

• Own the trading result including revenue, gross profit, wage costs and departmental contributions across bar, catering, functions, gaming and accommodation
• Manage the guest experience, from the first hello to the last drink of the night
• Ensure regulatory standing across liquor, gaming, AML/CTF and food safety
• Develop managers and supervisors into the club's next generation of leaders
• Provide board-standard reporting that explains the numbers rather than simply presenting them
• Provide operational input into the club's masterplan, capital works program and new business opportunities

About you

• You are a genuine hospitality professional with experience running a multi-department club, hotel or comparable venue. Excellence is desired
• You have carried the trading result on your own shoulders and can read a profit and loss statement
• You know your way around the Registered Clubs Act, the Liquor Act, the Gaming Machines Act and food safety obligations
• You hold — or can immediately obtain — RSA and RCG competency cards and an NSW Approved Manager licence
• You make good decisions quickly, in a loud room, on a busy night
• You are visible on the floor, and your team is better because you are on it
• you are an honest and clear communicator
• You can work a rotating roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, as and when the business needs you
• You must have the right to work in Australia
