Description

Growing veteran-owned moving and storage company seeks an experienced and career-minded General Manager/Operations Manager to facilitate continued expansion.
As a General Manager/Operations Manager with our team, you will lead operational activities to ensure optimum efficiency and productivity and be in direct daily contact with customers and crews to provide a motivating and positive environment. More specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Builds, inspires, leads, and mentors a world-class organization to achieve company-wide initiatives while exceeding customer expectations
· Monitors business health and adjusts operations and/or performance metrics for continued organizational success
· Supervises cashflow by ensuring timely billing, prompt payment collections, and minimizing payables to the extent possible
· Collaborates with Operations to receive shipment offers, evaluate logistical feasibility and profitability of servicing requirements, and renders decision to accept or reject each offer
· Manages scheduling of jobs and dispatch of necessary qualified personnel, equipment and materials to timely, efficiently, and profitably meet service obligations
· Interacts daily with internal staff, customers, and external business partners regarding job status, problem resolution, and payment for services rendered
· Actively seeks shipments and backhaul opportunities from various sources (i.e. load boards, business partners, etc.) so long-distance vehicles are continually operating at peak capacity
· Develops and maintains relationships with business partners to facilitate regular work and operational expansion
· Directs warehouse activities to include receiving efforts, preparation of outbound shipments, inventory accountability, cleaning, personnel safety, and security of premises.
· Facilitates training efforts to promote professional development and growth across all personnel within the organization.
· Monitors and coordinates vehicle maintenance and repairs
· Creates and executes plans to drive business and manage performance to maximize productivity, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
· Researches and promptly responds to inquiries via phone, fax, e-mail, etc.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree or 2+ years of Logistics-related/Transportation course work, military experience, or equivalent work-related experience
· Experience or exposure in the household goods (HHG) and/or relocation industry is highly preferred but is not required. Having a Valid Class A CDL is a Plus!
· Solid leadership and motivational abilities, along with strong organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written)
· Exceptional problem-solving abilities along with a positive, service-oriented attitude
· Demonstrated financial experience and/or understanding concerning cash flow, accounts receivable, accounts payable, financial goal setting, budget forecasting, and implementation of controls to monitor each.
· Ability to perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and urgency under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines.
· Desire and drive to continually improve business processes and grow the organization
· Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office applications, Internet Explorer, Windows, etc. Prior CRM experience is a plus!
