Providence Grain Solutions is one of the few producer-owned agricultural commodity businesses in Canada. Based in Marengo Sk, reporting directly to the CEO you will be responsible for the overall success and financial results for the Marengo grain elevator.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5-7 years’ involvement in the operation of a grain elevator facility or buying grain from Western Canadian producers.
  • Diploma or degree in business, agriculture or related field
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Ability to influence decision-making
  • Ability to work effectively within a team
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Customer service including creating value for the customer.
  • Ability to administer and manage an effective and proactive EHS program
  • Knowledge of government regulations
  • Basic grain marketing or merchandising knowledge

Responsibilities

As the General Manager, you will be accountable for the overall management within your grain operation location. Under the guidance of the CEO, you will lead and oversee the elevator and commercial operations of the facility to serve our customers, prevent incidents, reduce costs, improve efficiency and be responsible for quality control of the grain inventory. This is accomplished by leading and engaging the grain elevator operations team to achieve goals and by creating and implementing an organized approach to execute on planned activities. You will take ownership of the annual facility budgeting and planning. You will ensure that grain shipments unload as export ready and have keen knowledge of the grain handling and agriculture industry.
This is truly a GM role, and your time will be split between operations and being the commercial lead for the elevator performing a variety of tasks in the field of Grain Procurement: developing a strong customer base within a geographical area, and processing producer grain contracts in an accurate and timely manner. Key to this role is the ability for form strong relationship with the local producers.
