Mission/ Core purpose of the Job: The General Manager Satellite Business & Partnerships leads the Satellite Strategy execution, platform development, and execution across MTN’s digital infrastructure ecosystem. This role drives the expansion of Bayobab’s satellite product portfolio, establishes strategic partnerships with global LEO/MEO/GEO satellite operators, oversees technical integration with MTN networks, and ensures seamless commercialisation across MTN Opcos and external customers.  The position plays a critical role in shaping MTN’s future fit digital infrastructure architecture by integrating non terrestrial technologies with terrestrial capabilities, delivering new revenue streams, market expansion opportunities, and connectivity solutions for urban, rural, enterprise, and specialised verticals.  Key Performance Areas: Digital Infrastructure Strategy & Roadmap * Work with Group Technology and Commercial functions to develop MTN strategy for Satellite and NTN Roadmamp * Lead the execution of MTN Group’s satellite and NTN strategy, defining product direction, technology architecture, and commercial models.  * Establish integration frameworks ensuring satellite complements Bayobab’s core priorities across Fibre, Subsea, Towers, and AI enabled Data Centres.  *   Drive long term planning for GEO/MEO/LEO services across MTN’s footprint, aligning with market demand and customer segments.  *  Build a scalable, sustainable as well as Manage end-to-end P&L for the satellite business line * Translate global satellite trends into local and regional commercial opportunities Product & Commercial Leadership * Design and launch satellite products addressing wholesale, enterprise, rural broadband, public sector, IoT, mobility, aviation, and maritime needs.  * Define commercial models, pricing strategies, and financial frameworks that maximise profitability and cost efficiency.  * Identify and develop new revenue streams and monetisation opportunities enabled by satellite connectivity.  * Build & execute sales Pipeline as well as key account engagement for high value customers. Global Partnership & Ecosystem Management * Establish and manage strategic relationships with global satellite operators and ecosystem players. * Lead commercial and technical negotiations covering capacity, partnerships with technology vendors, governments, regulators and development agencies. * Ensure partner roadmaps align with MTN Group and Bayobab strategic priorities and performance expectations.  * Drive engagement with regulators on license related issues, spectrum, landing rights *   Technical Integration & Operational Delivery * Oversee the engineering design, planning, and optimisation of satellite network components.  * Lead integration of satellite connectivity with MTN network layers including transport, IP, core, and RAN.  * Ensure robust operations for gateways, teleports, VSAT hubs, monitoring platforms, and service management systems.  *  Ensure alignment between Network, IT, security teams on service quality Programme Execution Across Markets *   Drive multi-country satellite rollouts in alignment with regulatory, commercial, and operational requirements.  *  Ensure compliance with landing rights, licensing, spectrum, and other regulatory obligations across markets.  *   Apply PM excellence to deliver satellite programmes on time, within scope, and to quality standards.  *   Build and scale a specialised satellite team to support business growth.  Innovation & Market Intelligence *    Monitor advancements in flat panel antennas, high throughput systems, LEO innovations, and NTN/5G and next generations standards.  * Introduce new solutions that expand Bayobab’s infrastructure reach and support MTN’s digital inclusion agenda.  * Position Bayobab and MTN as leaders in satellite driven connectivity across Africa.     Job Requirements: Education: * Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.  * Master’s degree (MBA, Telecommunications, Engineering, or relevant discipline) preferred.  * Professional certifications in satellite, space systems, or NTN technologies advantageous.  * Experience: * 10+ years’ experience in satellite, telecom infrastructure, or relevant engineering domains.  * Demonstrated experience in GEO/MEO/LEO systems, ground infrastructure, and telco integration. * Proven commercial and product leadership experience within wholesale, enterprise, or emerging connectivity sectors.  * Strong background in multi market programme management.  * Experience with African and Middle Eastern regulatory environments preferred.  Competencies: * Strategic thinking with Group level influence.  * Deep technical understanding of satellite systems and NTN technologies.  * Strong partnership management and negotiation skills. * Effective cross functional orchestration across Group, Opcos, vendors, regulators.  * Strong financial modelling, commercial acumen, and business case development.  * Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.  * Global mindset with multicultural working experience.    Other Requirements: Regional and international travel.  * Ability to operate in fast changing, high complexity environments.  * Strong leadership presence and ability to build new capability areas.    Collaboration: * Bayobab CEO, Exco, Leadership, functions and OPCOs. * MTN Group Technology, Commercial, Strategy, Digital, Enterprise, Fintech, M&A, and other Group functions.  * MTN Group Connectivity and Fintech Opcos for deployment, demand generation, and commercial adoption.  * Global satellite operators, ground infrastructure providers, and ecosystem partners.  * Regulators for licensing, spectrum, and compliance.
