  • Proven experience as a General Manager with relevant Conference & Events experience. (this is not a first time GM role)
  • High standard of personal appearance and hygiene.
  • Use of in house ordering and stock system.

    Seasoned Venues, a leading independent caterer, is looking for a General Manager in one of our busiest Venues to oversee the day to day running of a friendly but vibrant venues. The venues operates a busy, coffee retail bar. Evening Bars for auditorium shows, conferences 250 + The position is a hands-on position suitable for someone looking to take charge and make their own.
    The facilities are maintained to the highest standards to ensure your event is a great success.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

  • Knowledge of the catering industry and current styles bars/retail and conferencing.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Experience of motivating, managing and disciplining staff.
  • Experience of financial forecasting and budget management.
  • Essential Qualifications.
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Health and safety in the workplace certificate.
  • Licensee Certificate.

Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

You will be based at Apex but also looking after Athenaeum (both venues are a short walk).
You will be managing the Conferencing and Events requirements to ensure the clients expectations are met ensuring a seamless experience of the highest standard across our two prestigious venues.
That may be delivering a wedding of the highest standard at the Athenaeum, to bar service during one of our many shows at the Apex. Working with the onsite team to deliver pre show dining, conference and events, small meetings and large scale events.

Whilst operating the café using locally roasted beans, freshly baked bread and locally crafted hot chocolate, we host food tasting events for all. Our love of food and service is what sets us apart. DUTIES:

  • To meet and greet clients on the day of the event, conduct housekeeping, confirming details and communicating any changes/ orders to relevant departments to ensure high quality service is delivered.
  • Responsible for effectively communicating with staff on all levels.
  • Ensure a high standard of customer service is delivered at all times.
  • Ensuring standards of food and beverage service in conference rooms and bars during the shows in the auditorium are maintained to the highest level.
  • Ensuring function rooms are set up in accordance with function sheets liaison with onsite conference engineer for client AV / IT requirements.
  • Building close working relationships with the onsite client and all team members to ensure repeat business.
  • Work closely with the Events manager to ensure that the venues are fully staffed and the customer feels cared for.
  • Be responsible for the direction, supervision, motivation, training and discipline of unit staff members.
  • Ensuring that the Standard Operating Procedures are adhered to, including dress codes.
  • Effective communication with staff at all levels.

MAIN DUTIES

  • Responsible for managing the recruitment, interviewing, inducting, training and appraisal of staff members in accordance with Seasoned policies and procedures.
  • To hold weekly/monthly meetings with managers and in turn ensure the cascading of information to promote a culture of success and inclusion in the decision-making progress to all employees.
  • Ensuring a high standard of service and customer service is always delivered.
  • To be involved, with the Operations team, in the menu planning and costing, ensuring that margins are met.
  • To communicate effectively with clients, verbally face to face and in writing.
  • Responsible for the overall hygiene, health and safety relating to the catering operation at The Mermaid.
  • To carry out regular inspections and implement corrective action if required, communicate any maintenance issues to relevant parties.
  • Ensure all financial data is filled out and sent to accounts on the correct day, checking the accuracy of returns.
  • Ensure staff rotas and wage returns are completed accurately and submitted on the correct day, ensuring that targets are met.
  • Financial forecasting, calculating G.P’s, setting prices, monitoring and agreeing targets with Operations Director and conveying those to the sales manager.
  • To ensure unit turnover and profit targets are met.
  • To provide timely reporting for all operations, such reports to present. actuals/forecast/variances recovery plans, action plans, pricing or any other financial report required.
  • To manage the Commercial Accountant and their duties.
  • Manage a staff rota’s ensuring that the operation is always staffed but not over resourced to achieve the required budget lines.
  • Conduct grievance and disciplinary meetings as and when required. Be instrumental in terms of investigation procedure.
  • Undertake any reasonable duties as dictated by Managing Director that are within skills and capabilities.
