Description

Fethard Equine Hospital is hiring for the role of General operative. This is a fantastic chance to gain hands-on experience at one of Ireland’s leading equine hospitals, working alongside a highly skilled and supportive team.
You’ll become part of a large and experienced group including 9 veterinary nurses, 4 surgeons, 1 specialist medicine clinician, 9 veterinary interns, and a dedicated support team.
We handle a high-volume, varied caseload of racehorses, sport horses, ponies, mares, and foals, providing both surgical and non-surgical care year-round.
Our hospital is based in the town of Fethard, just 15 minutes from the M8 Cashel exit. Surrounded by stunning countryside and steeped in equestrian heritage, we are close to iconic locations such as the Rock of Cashel, Coolmore Stud, and Ballydoyle Racing. Fethard also offers fantastic amenities including the newly built Fethard Town Park which is on our doorstep.

Responsibilities
  • Receiving and logging deliveries accurately into our stock room ensuring that the correct items are received, checked against delivery dockets and meet the expected quality standards.
  • Allocating goods: Organizing stock into the correct locations, logging new batches and any stock discrepancies.
  • Stock checking: Conduct regular stock audits and restock areas around the hospital with the quantities allocated to each department. Accurately sign out stock on the stock control software.
  • Analyze stock data for different periods throughout the year ensuring no stock shortages.
  • Liaising with nurses and management to ensure adequate stocking of surgical items and stock availability.
  • Recording the receipt and dispatch of diagnostic equipment, including tracking items sent for servicing using Excel.
  • Inputting invoices and credit notes from deliveries onto the system.
  • Identify and suggest potential improvements to our processes, enabling us to enhance efficiency
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised working environment by sanitising areas, and checking medication shelf life.
  • Logging out of date stock and ensuring the correct disposal route is followed.
  • Assist with additional duties required by the line manager.
