The Practice Nurse will work as part of the Practice Team at Chapel St Surgery, Lye, Stourbridge under the management of the Trust to provide nursing care to the patients in the local community in accordance with NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) code of conduct and in line with the NMC scope of professional conduct.
Chronic Disease Management would be an advantage but Childrens Immunisations, Cervical Screening, Travel Health, Wound Management and an understanding of QOF are essential requirements for this role.
The successful candidate will have the ability to work independently as well as being a good team player. The ability to work under pressure is essential.
As an EMIS Web organisation previous experience using this system would be desirable but not essential as full training would be given.
Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by Nurse Lead and GPs
Cytology
Wound care and ulcer care
Removal of sutures
Travel clinic
ECG’s
Venepuncture
Ear syringing
Childhood immunisations
Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
LTC management including Diabetes, Coronary Heart Disease, Hypertension, Asthma, CVA, COPD
Delivery of specialist treatment injections eg Prostap, Zoladex and Vitamin B12
Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels
Ability to deliver COVID Vaccinations
Home visits
Following agreed clinical protocols with referral from GPs as appropriate
Awareness of infection control and requirement to take part in infection control audit
Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
Participation in administration systems in the Practice (EMIS, CMCS, ICE, Docman)
At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records
A duty to advise GPs of potential problems or errors within a range of assigned tasks
Attend and participate in any Nurse and Practice meetings when required
Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post
