MŌU AKE | ABOUT YOU:
We welcome clinicians with sub-specialty interests that benefit our community. For those keen on acute medicine, we operate a 4-bed, 2-consult room Medical Assessment Unit open daily from 09:00-18:00. On-site plain radiology, community Awauni laboratory with POCT facilities, and ultrasound support are available.
Our inpatient unit has 14 acute beds. We employ 2 Medical Officers on a permanent basis with weekends being covered by regular Locums and nights covered by Emergency Consult. We would envisage that as a dual trained GP, you would be released from General Practice to cover a portion of the permanent Medical Officer annual leave and study leave. This variety of work and background support makes this role an attractive option for those looking for a diverse and interesting role.
Mō mātou | About us:
Our general practice has 8,400 enrolled patients, is Foundation standards accredited, and has completed the Health Care Home programme. The practice is part of an integrated health centre incorporating GP, Inpatient ward, Maternity ward with birthing unit, Outpatient specialist services and a wide variety of community based and allied health services. We have onsite laboratory and radiology service for the convenience of our patients, and staff. Our services onsite all work collaboratively to deliver care to our patients, whanau and community. We are committed to diversity and inclusion across our staff and services and as such we welcome and encourage applications from all people, including all ethnicities, gender identities, ages, sexual orientation, and disability. We are a pro-equity organisation particularly for our Māori, Pacific Peoples, and the Disability Community.
As an accredited training facility for the three tertiary education providers in the region teaching is a major feature of the practice, hosting RMIP students along with nursing, midwifery and allied health undergraduates.
All our staff and teams are well supported with strong administration personnel as well as having Human Resources, Finance, IT, Maintenance and Quality & Risk personnel onsite, at your fingertips.
If you choose to commute, Balclutha is an easy one-hour drive from Dunedin. Being centrally located, there is free carparking and it’s just a very brief walk to café’s, shops and local services for your convenience.
