Position Overview:
We are seeking a high-performing, results-driven General Sales Manager (GSM) to lead our Sales and Finance teams. This leadership role is responsible for driving production, profitability, and customer satisfaction across all variable operations. The ideal candidate has a strong background in automotive sales and finance, a passion for coaching and developing teams, and a customer-first mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve volume, gross profit, and finance product penetration goals
  • Work closely with the Finance Director and Sales Managers to ensure a seamless and compliant sales-to-F&I process
  • Analyze market trends, pricing strategies, and inventory to ensure competitive positioning
  • Lead, coach, and motivate the sales and F&I teams to exceed targets and KPIs
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and establish accountability for results
  • Foster a culture of excellence, transparency, and continuous improvement
  • Monitor and improve our customers’ experience throughout the sales and finance journey
  • Maximize team productivity and CSI (Customer Satisfaction Index) to ensure optimal profitability across all variable operations
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and manufacturer standards
  • Resolve escalated customer issues in a professional and timely manner
  • Oversee daily operations of the showroom and F&I office
  • Track and report key metrics including sales performance, finance income, CSI/SSI scores, and closing ratios
  • Collaborate with the inventory and marketing teams to support sales initiatives
  • Represent the dealership brand with integrity in the community and with manufacturer partners.
  • Other duties as required by the Dealership Leadership team or our OEM partners.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Automotive Management, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in automotive retail, with at least 2 years in a GSM or similar leadership role
  • Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable, safe driving history.
  • Current AMVIC or OMVIC license or the ability to acquire one, as required by the position.
  • Ability to adequately pass a pre-employment background screening.
  • OEM certification and previous multi-brand or high-volume dealership experience.
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales and finance performance targets
  • Strong understanding of F&I products, compliance, and menu selling techniques
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to analyze data, forecast trends, and make strategic decisions
  • Proficiency with CRM, DMS, and desking tools (e.g., Dealertrack, Reynolds & Reynolds, VAuto)
