Responsibilities
  • Project Kick-off and Scheduling: Once a project is awarded, the general superintendent is responsible for creating a detailed project schedule. This involves coordinating with the client, the sales team, and suppliers to lock in dates for concrete/material delivery, prep work, and finishing.
  • Material and Equipment Management: They must ensure that all necessary materials (rebar, forms, curing compounds, etc.) and equipment (skid steers, trowel machines, pumps) are ordered, delivered, and ready on-site when needed. This includes negotiating with suppliers, such as White Cap, regarding pricing and delivery times. All quotes and pricing should be saved to the project folder to ensure accuracy. They are also responsible for ordering concrete daily.
  • Crew Assignment: Based on the project’s scope and complexity, they will select and assign the appropriate crew members and foremen to the job, ensuring the right mix of skills for tasks like formwork, finishing, and decorative applications.

  • Quality Control: They are ultimately responsible for ensuring that all concrete is placed and finished with the required specifications (e.g., PAG specs for public work, specific PSI for commercial slabs) and that the final product meets or exceeds client expectations.
