* Refer patients to medical specialists, social services or other professionals as appropriate. * Perform surgical procedures to prevent or correct injury, disease, deformities and patient function while adhering to regulator, ethical and surgical standards. * Direct, coordinate, or supervise the patient care activities of nursing or support services. * Write patient discharge summaries. * Conduct discharge planning and discharge patients. * Communicate with patients' primary care physicians upon hospital discharge to maintain continuity and quality of care. * Prescribe medications or treatment regimens as appropriate. * Order or interpret the results of tests such as laboratory tests and radiography (x-rays) and advanced imaging. * Performs standard office duties, including excision, incision and drainage. * Attend inpatient consultations in areas of specialty. * Diagnose, treat, or provide continuous care to patients. * Admit patients for hospital stays and surgical procedures. * Participate in Medical Group meetings, Leadership meetings and Physician committees upon request. * Other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
The surgeon will perform surgical procedures to correct or prevent disease and injury while adhering to all ethical and regulatory standards.
