GENERALIST ADVISER

You will be part of one of our generalist adviser teams, delivering advice on welfare benefits, debt, housing, employment, immigration, discrimination, family, and social welfare issues. Our teams are diverse, with a range of experiences, and work together in our Barry office, delivering advice to clients via face-to-face appointments, telephone, email and webchat. Face-to-face appointments also take place in our Cardiff office and at our community locations.
During your training you will work 9am to 5pm. Because our telephone lines are open to clients between 8am and 7pm, once you have completed your training, you will work your weekly hours on a shift pattern of either 8am to 4pm, 9am to 5pm or 11am to 7pm. We will give you plenty of notice of your shift. On occasion, you will also be required to work from home on Saturdays from 9am to 1pm, for which you can claim TOIL.

Interview Date: Tuesday 23, Thursday 25 and Friday 26 September.

Communication: You must have strong listening and questioning skills, with the ability to sensitively explore client issues and be able to communicate clearly and empathetically, both verbally and in writing
Problem solving: You must be able to assess complex situations, interpret information and clearly advise clients on the options available to them
Talking and typing: You must be able to talk and type at the same time, recording details of the client and their enquiry whilst speaking to them on the phone
Time management: You manage time effectively to achieve performance targets
