Description Superior Electrical, Mechanical, and Plumbing, Inc. (SEMP) is a statewide provider of commercial skilled trade services with over 20 years of experience delivering reliable electrical, mechanical, and plumbing solutions. We are seeking an experienced Generator Technician to support our Southern California division. This role offers a Monday through Friday schedule, and technicians may begin their service routes from their home address. The ideal candidate will have at least eight years of recent, hands-on experience performing generator preventive maintenance and repairs, along with strong commercial electrical knowledge related to stationary generators and their optimal performance. Responsibilities Visually inspect and diagnose issues with natural gas and/or gasoline-powered standby commercial generators Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, filter replacements, battery replacements, and servicing of belts, spark plugs, and other mechanical components Demonstrate knowledge and experience with CAT, Cummins, Generac, Kohler, or Detroit Diesel generator systems Demonstrate working knowledge of both DC and AC voltage systems Troubleshoot and service Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) with proficiency Conduct load bank testing to ensure generator performance under load Educate end users on proper generator operation and basic maintenance procedures Provide service and repair recommendations to maintain equipment in optimal working condition Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams Operate a company vehicle and complete fleet maintenance reports as required Maintain accurate records of all inspections, maintenance, and repair work performed Communicate effectively with management, team members, and clients to ensure clear understanding of service needs and solutions Requirements Minimum of eight years of recent experience performing commercial generator maintenance Basic understanding of NFPA 70E, OSHA regulations, and general electrical safety practices Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and motor vehicle background check Proficient English communication skills, both written and verbal, for preparing reports and emails Must possess personal hand tools required to perform mechanical work and voltage testing Willingness to commute to various job sites using company vehicles within Orange County, Los Angeles County, and/or the Inland Empire Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment About the Company Superior Electrical, Mechanical & Plumbing, Inc. is a commercial service and construction company with over 20 years of experience delivering high-quality electrical and plumbing solutions across California and other states.
