Description
As a member of the health care team, the Genetic Counsellor will contribute to the development and coordination of activities that support the Genetics Service at the Children’s Hospital. They will provide genetic assessment and counselling for patients and families, as well as liaising with hospital and community health professionals regarding genetics issues Masters Degree in Genetic Counseling Certified (or eligible for certification) by Canadian Association of Genetic Counsellors (CACG) or American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) Experience working with children and families, and bereavement support Experience in evaluating and developing resources for clients and professionals Experience in research and data management. Highly developed computer skills and/or the ability to learn new computer programs Highly motivated, with effective oral and written communication skills, including telephone counseling Excellent organizational, time management and critical thinking skills Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively
