UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital is currently seeking a full-time, board-certified or board-eligible Genetic Counselor to join our growing and collaborative team. As part of a high-volume academic medical center affiliated with a premier genetic counseling training program, this role offers a unique opportunity to work in a cutting-edge clinical environment while contributing to education and research. We offer a Monday–Friday daylight schedule and opportunities for professional development, including mentorship of genetic counseling students and participation in ongoing research initiatives. Responsibilities: Serves in an expert role to advance a dept/division strategic initiative Assumes an expert role in mentoring and coordinating various learners within the dept/division Performs all duties of a Genetic Counselor III Quality Initiative project or GC student thesis committee member or patient experience assessment Is an author on a publication in a peer review journal Performs all clinical duties at a highly proficient level Research GC: Assists with grant proposals and submissions; writes abstracts and manuscripts, coordinates research studies; develops and implements research theories and hypotheses. Writes and submits IRB protocols. Provides lectures for the Univ of Pitt GC program Identifies opportunities for expansion of genetic services/programs Proficient involvement with research activities Master of Science in Human Genetics/Genetic Counseling from an American Board of Genetics Counseling (ABGC) accredited institution. For Genetic Counselor IV: 7 years of experience as a genetic counselor required. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) certified genetic counselor who holds a PA license.
