For this exciting position, we are specifically targeting students who have a background in geoscience, geology, geochemistry, data science or a related fields. As part of the Teck’s Exploration and Geoscience Services Group, the Geoscience Co-op will have the opportunity to contribute to key data-driven geochemistry-focused initiatives. Working with a team of domain experts that applies the fundamental principles of geochemistry to generative exploration workflows, there is a phenomenal opportunity to better understand Teck’s orebodies within the Discovery Excellence group. The primary objective of this role is to compile a whole-rock and mineral chemistry database and geochronology database. A secondary objective is supporting the evaluation of these datasets for prospectivity for different deposit types. Through this role, we can provide an excellent opportunity to improve data analysis and data compilation skills while gaining valuable insights into generative exploration. The ideal candidate is keen to deepen their understanding of the application of geochemistry for area selection and prospectivity on a regional scale in magmatic-hydrothermal systems and equally keen on machine learning and data science.
If you are not currently located in the area of this co-op position, you must be willing to either commute or relocate to the surrounding area for the entire duration of the co-op term.. You must also currently be a student enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution and will be enrolled throughout the duration of the co-op term (you will also be returning back to the post-secondary institution once the co-op term is completed). Proof of a valid work permit will also be required, if applicable.
Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity to be part of one of Canada’s leading mining companies and join our team!
