Responsibilities

MORE ABOUT YOUR ROLE:

At NASK, we are growing, building great teams, and doing exciting work. NASK is seeking an experienced Data Management professional in Beavercreek, Ohio, to fill a key role supporting the National Air & Space Intelligence Center (NASIC). In this position, you will work closely with researchers, analysts, system developers, and Government subject matter experts to tailor and implement data pipelines and processes; create data schema, spatially and temporally correlate data, ensure quality and fitness of data including consistency, accuracy, and normalization to be used in intelligence analysis. This role supports a high-performance team providing GEOINT data science, data stewardship, and advanced data visualization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Database Management: Design, develop, and maintain geospatial databases using platforms such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or PostgreSQL/PostGIS, ensuring efficient storage, retrieval, and querying of geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) data.
  • Structured Observation Management (SOM): Implement and manage SOM frameworks to standardize geospatial data collection, observation, and reporting processes, ensuring consistency and traceability in geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) workflows.
  • Data Manipulation: Manipulate and transform existing geospatial datasets (e.g., satellite imagery, LiDAR, vector/raster data) to meet mission-specific requirements, including data cleaning, reprojection, and format conversion, while adhering to SOM protocols.
  • Schema Design: Create and optimize database schemas to support complex GEOINT and SOM workflows, ensuring scalability, performance, and alignment with industry standards.
  • Spatial Analysis: Perform advanced spatial analysis (e.g., buffering, overlay, proximity analysis) to derive insights from GEOINT data, integrating SOM-derived observations for enhanced mission planning and decision-making.
  • Data Integration: Integrate diverse data sources (e.g., cartographic, photographic, remote sensing, tabular) into cohesive GIS databases, incorporating SOM data to ensure consistency and accuracy across scales.
  • Quality Control: Conduct quality assurance and validation checks on GIS and SOM data to maintain data integrity and reliability, with minimal supervision.
  • Automation: Develop scripts (e.g., Python, SQL) to automate repetitive data management and SOM tasks, such as data updates, geoprocessing, or schema maintenance, improving operational efficiency.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with analysts, developers, and stakeholders to understand mission needs and translate them into effective data management and SOM solutions.
