Description RETTEW is seeking a motivated Geoscientist 1 to join our Geotechnical & GeoEnvironmental Teams in Pittsburgh, PA. Work Environment - Hybrid (office/field) - Location: Pittsburgh, PA Position Summary / What You’ll Do As a Geoscientist 1, you will conduct field work, assist with site investigations, and support engineering & environmental data collection for reporting on Oil & Gas, geotechnical, and other environmental projects. In addition, construction oversight of upstream, midstream, & water transfer infrastructure facilities will be required. Responsibilities / Day-to-Day • Conduct field inspections, primarily at oil and gas sites. • Perform field investigations including soil and groundwater sampling and stream profiling. • Support Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and Phase II Subsurface Investigations. • Assist with soil investigations, infiltration testing, and contractor oversight. • Process and reduce laboratory data for reporting. • Assist with preparation of permit applications and compliance documentation. • Research and apply environmental regulations with senior staff guidance. • Perform drilling inspections, including geotechnical borehole logging and log preparation (gINT experience a plus). • Perform construction inspection services of geotechnical engineering design for well pads, access road, temporary stockpiles, compressor stations, launcher/receiver pads, AST pads, and a variety of earthwork structures designed to support Oil & Gas operations in the tri-state area. Qualifications Required: • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or related discipline. • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. • Willingness to travel for project work, including periodic overnight and extended assignments. Preferred: • One or more years of environmental consulting experience (entry-level candidates encouraged to apply). • Strong technical writing and communication skills. • Safeland or equivalent onshore energy industry training. • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training. • Experience with gINT software for borehole logging. • Interest in developing expertise across multidisciplinary environmental projects.
