NSB Omega is searching for a Geoscientist for our MAJOR Oil & Gas Client in St. John’s, NL

ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION

Opportunity Generation Geoscientist is responsible for the generation of subsurface investment opportunities commensurate with the strategy and priorities of the CAE line of business. Responsibilities will include but not limited to the interpretation and integration of geophysical, geologic and production data for the purposes of oil and gas field management and prospect generation. The primary area of responsibility for this individual will be field data integration (geophysical, geological, production) for opportunity generation supporting long term value creation and leading to program execution for assets in the CAE portfolio. An expectation is that the individual will be in a lead geoscientist position during well maturation and early planning phases until hand off to short cycle for execution. This individual reports functionally and along business lines to the Long Cycle Supervisor.

KEY SKILLS:

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master of Science (MSc) in Geology or Geophysics preferred; BS by exception
  • Minimum of 5 years professional industry experience in Petroleum Geosciences
Responsibilities
  • Ensure geoscience technical quality in the employee’s areas of technical expertise
  • Provide geophysical, geological and geotechnical support to any of the Canada East Properties
  • Ensure geophysical, geological and production information is appropriately characterized in opportunity evaluations and utilized in drill well execution
  • Active participant in drill well execution from a lead geoscientist role. Actively develop skills in drill well execution and OpsGeo knowledge
  • Generate high-quality investment opportunities for for the UOG – Canada East
  • Key work activities include - opportunity generation, long term reservoir management (models, simulation), reserves determination, development planning, well planning
  • Collaborate with Short Cycle teams to ensure full coverage of opportunity space from identification to planning and execution phases
  • Collaborate as warranted with ExxonMobil UBD, UOG, and/or Upstream Integrated Solutions (UIS) to ensure proper upstream alignment and sharing of new technologies
  • Execute workplans that fit within the CAE BU priorities and are fully integrated with the Asset Level Business Plan
  • Collaborate regularly with the all other functions (Engineering, Drilling, Regulatory, etc) and companies (UOG, UBD, UIS) present in Canada East
  • Mentor members of the development team in all areas of personal expertise
