GEOSPATIAL DATA MANAGER/ARCHITECT

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a data management or similar role.
  • Strong background in data governance and ensuring team adherence to policies.
  • Demonstrable experience with metadata management and standards.
  • Experience in data quality assurance.
  • Experience in data version control.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • A solid understanding of data lifecycle management principles and practices.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience with geospatial data and software.
  • Experience of designing, implementing, transitioning and maintaining data management systems.
  • Experience of working with open source tools and software.
  • Experience with scripting languages for data processing and management.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based storage options (e.g., AWS,Google Cloud).
  • Knowledge of relevant external standards.
  • Proficiency with databasing and querying tools.

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced Geospatial Data Manager to join our growing team. This is a critical role responsible for the architecture, implementation, and day-to-day management of our geospatial data systems. You will ensure our data processes are robust, followed, and meet the highest standards of quality and integrity.
Working closely with our scientific and technical teams, you will play a key part in the data lifecycle, from cataloging and quality assurance to access management and availability for internal and external stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Data Architecture and Management: Understand data architecture requirements to implement and manage a robust geospatial data system.
  • Data Governance: Establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures across the team.
  • Data Cataloging and Metadata Management: Develop and maintain a comprehensive data catalog. Implement and manage metadata standards relevant to geospatial data.
  • Data Quality Assurance: Ensure data integrity by implementing and overseeing data quality checks and review processes before data moves downstream.
  • Version Control: Manage and maintain a rigorous version control system for all our data assets.
  • Data Access and Availability: Control and manage access to data for internal and external stakeholders, working with our tech and API teams to ensure seamless data transfer.
  • Data Lifecycle Management: Oversee the complete data lifecycle, including archiving, retention, and deletion policies.
