Description

Ecora is seeking a Geotechnical EIT (Engineer-in-Training) to join our expanding Geotechnical Group. The position will be based in our Kelowna or Vancouver offices to support our growing workload across British Columbia. We are looking for a motivated EIT who is eager to gain hands-on experience in geotechnical site investigations, laboratory testing, data analysis, and the preparation of technical deliverables, while working toward Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensure.
Ecora’s Geo-Hydro Group provides geotechnical and hydrotechnical services in support of infrastructure projects, commercial developments, dam engineering, and residential subdivisions. We are proud to provide consulting services to provincial ministries, utilities, municipalities, First Nation communities, architects, developers, and contracting firms throughout British Columbia. Our team is supported by a CCIL-certified materials testing laboratory and a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geological Engineering; EIT registration (or eligibility) in BC.
  • 1–2 years of co-op or professional experience in geotechnical engineering preferred.
  • Familiarity with field investigation methods, soil and rock classification, and basic laboratory testing.
  • Basic proficiency with geotechnical software and CAD/GIS tools is an asset.
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and clear technical writing ability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to work outdoors in variable conditions and travel to remote project sites.
  • Commitment to professional growth, safety, and ethical engineering practice.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license (or equivalent) with a clean driving record.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with the planning and logistics for field investigations, including borehole drilling, in-situ testing, and groundwater monitoring.
  • Conduct and document field tests, ensuring proper sample handling and safety compliance.
  • Support coordination of laboratory testing for soil and rock samples; compile and review test results.
  • Process and interpret geotechnical data to develop subsurface profiles, cross-sections, and preliminary ground models.
  • Prepare draft sections of geotechnical reports, including figures, tables, and basic engineering calculations.
  • Perform routine geotechnical analyses (bearing capacity, settlement, slope stability) under supervision.
  • Maintain project databases, lab logs, and GIS/CAD files for geotechnical deliverables.
  • Participate in site visits, instrumentation installations, and construction observations.
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, and environmental teams to integrate geotechnical input into projects.
  • Ensure adherence to health & safety, environmental, and quality control standards.
