Clermont Open Cut, a Glencore Operation, is currently seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join their highly motivated Technical Services team. Located on the western edge of the Bowen Basin, Clermont Open Cut is a high performing truck & shovel operation that produces 11 million tonnes of coal per annum. Clermont Open Cut Operation is a safe, dynamic, and inclusive workplace focused on delivering high performance outcomes. Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, this position will offer variety and opportunity to the right individual.

Responsibilities

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

Monitoring, measuring and reporting geotechnical hazards
High wall mapping, analysis of dumps, pit wall stability and rock fall exposure
Installation and monitoring of geotechnical devices such as IDS radar, Prisms and Piezometers
Working closely with site technical services, operations teams and geotechnical consultants
Providing design and execution recommendations
Reviewing mine designs to ensure compliance with recommendations as well as updating site plans and procedures

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE INCLUDE:

Tertiary qualification in Geotech Engineering
3 years minimum experience in Open Cut Coal Mining
Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
Ability to liaise with key internal and external stakeholders
Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, logical thinking, problem-solving, and the ability to work independently while maintaining a team focus
QLD Drivers Licence
This role requires a safety conscious candidate prepared to challenge the norm, drive continuous improvement and who can demonstrate experience in implementing best practice using a hands-on approach.
