Job Description
So, we are seeking a confident and enthusiastic Geotechnical Engineer, who shares our values – Think Sharp, Dig In and Care - to join our high performing team. Reporting to the Senior Geologist this position will have a high level of exposure to stakeholders and engagement with all levels of the business and will be provided mentoring and development opportunities to further your career path.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Provide geotechnical knowledge to optimise site planning and production processes
  • Maintain the slope stability model and ensure compliance with standards
  • Maintain the site geotechnical model
  • Ad hoc project work
  • Facilitating and providing intra and cross departmental communication in relation to geotechnical matters
  • Provide leadership and be a role model for safety on site

The successful candidate for this role will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Mining Engineering
  • Experience in open-cut mining is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated safety leadership.
  • A passion for continuous improvement
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • A high level of computer literacy
  • A commitment to the best practice of health, safety environment and community at all times
  • Excellent planning, organising and influencing skills
  • Experience with Vulcan or other mine design software and Rocscience software would be highly desirable
  • Ability to succinctly develop quality reports and be able to communicate findings with a variety of key stakeholders including Senior Leadership Team
  • High level communication, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Exceptional computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Lateral thinking skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in the workplac
