We are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to work in the Transmission Overhead & Civil Engineering Department. Under the general
direction of the Team B Lead and the Geotechnical & Geological Section Head, and with minimal supervision, you will work in a
professional team environment with engineers, geoscientists and engineering technologists to conduct geotechnical engineering
design and geotechnical engineering assessment work.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil/Geological Engineering from a University of recognized standing with a minimum of four

years of related engineering experience.

  • Registered as a Professional Engineer or Engineering Intern in good standing with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of theoretical and applied soil mechanics.
  • Sound knowledge of geotechnical drilling and testing, including index and advanced laboratory testing.
  • Proficiency with GeoStudio software, specifically SLOPE/W and SEEP/W would be considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with gINT and/or OpenGround software would be considered an asset.
  • A master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Geosciences would be an asset.
  • Strong communications skills, both oral and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with others and participate on project teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organize concurrent work assignments.
Responsibilities
  • Complete geotechnical engineering analysis and calculations.
  • Prepare technical specifications, contract documents, design drawings, borehole logs, and technical reports.
  • Design and implement instrumentation and monitoring programs for construction and geohazard monitoring projects.
  • Complete site inspections for geohazard assessment and monitoring of linear infrastructure.
  • Prepare engineering reports and memos for designs and assessments.
  • Co-ordinate, design, and execute subsurface exploration programs.
  • Provide support for construction inspection and quality control, and complete field inspections as required.
  • Complete geotechnical analysis and design using complex calculations and computer modeling software (GeoStudio). The
    analysis work will include evaluations of slope stability, seepage, shoreline erosion, settlement, piping erosion, bearing
    capacity, lateral pile capacity, and freeze/thaw performance of soils. The design work will include the design of earthworks,
    stabilizing works (riverbanks and dams/dikes), shoreline erosion protection (riverbanks and dams/dikes), pipeline mechanical

protection, drainage works, and foundations.

  • Review consultant submissions for the design and construction of various projects.
  • Provide construction and design support for active projects.
