Location: Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and the Yindjibarni people
Roster: 8D/6R Tuesday/Tuesday, FIFO ex Perth
We are seeking a highly motivated Geotechnical Engineer to join our Solomon Operations Planning team as a Geotechnical Engineer – Medium Term Planning.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor of Engineering or Geology degree required.
  • Previous mining operational experience in either an open pit or underground environment must be demonstrated with the ability to provide practical and innovative solutions to ground control challenges.
  • Previous experience with geotechnical modelling and mining software packages (Rocscience and Vulcan) would be an advantage.
  • Must hold current drivers licence.
Responsibilities
  • Operational geotechnical risk management inspections, production support and hazard reporting.
  • Development, implementation and management of ground control standards for open pit slopes and waste rock dumps.
  • Geotechnical monitoring system design, implementation, maintenance, analysis and reporting.
  • Geotechnical rockmass and structural model reconciliation and recording.
  • Design performance review and compliance tracking.
  • Support geotechnical drilling programs; drill hole design, data collection and geotechnical database management, analysis and reporting.
  • Slope stability modelling and design assessment.
