CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geological or Civil Engineering. A master’s degree is considered an asset.
  • 6 to 10 years of professional work experience in the field of geotechnical engineering, local Canadian experience is strongly preferred.
  • P.Eng. designation in good standing with APEGA is required.
  • Experience in the use of commercially available software packages such as Slope/W, GINT, Plaxis, Uni-Settle, L-Pile, A-Pile as well as familiarity with ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Google Earth and Microsoft products is required.
  • Experience with field investigation techniques such as soil logging (auger drilling, sonic drilling, etc.).
  • Experience in developing client relationships and business development to expand business in the geotechnical field is required.
  • Proficiency with spoken and written English language is required.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license.
Responsibilities
  • Lead geotechnical investigations for infrastructure, commercial, residential and energy projects
  • Interpret field and lab data to develop design parameters and recommendations
  • Prepare and review detailed geotechnical reports and proposals
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients—building trust through regular communication, meetings, and progress updates
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships with engineering firms, developers, contractors, and government agencies
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and support business development activities
  • Mentor junior engineers and review their work for accuracy and completeness
  • Support hiring, training, and performance development within the team
  • Expansion of client base and work opportunities in geotechnical space across Alberta primarily and expanding further into Canada with business growth.
  • Other duties as directed by your direct supervisor or manager.
