ENGEO 360° is a comprehensive summer internship designed for talented university students to explore professional engineering consulting careers within a dynamic and empowering environment. We give our interns real responsibilities that impact projects and add value to our work. Our interns gain experience in the office, laboratory, and field environments. While the focus will be primarily Geotechnical Engineering, our interns receive a perspective of geoenvironmental, hydrologic, and geologic engineering too. See our intern experience video here! Internship Goals · Provide a meaningful learning experience for talented students · Perform engineering tasks to support ENGEO’s broad portfolio of projects · Build lasting connections with many talented mentors · Join events and build relationships to experience what makes ENGEO unique and a certified Great Place to Work Structure You will primarily split your time between office and field work, but you will also spend up to one week in one of our soil labs! You will be supported by a Servant Leader, a Go-To buddy, technical leaders, project managers, and others to help you have a successful Requirements Field Goals (as scheduled TBD on availability) · Assist with the planning and execution of field investigations including logging borings and test pits, collecting samples, performing field tests, and observing and assisting with cone penetration and geophysical testing. · Observe construction of foundations, ground improvement, shoring, grading operations, and other geotechnical construction. · Understand how geotechnical recommendations and designs are implemented · Gain experience working on large-scale construction projects. · Become certified to operate a nuclear gauge through onsite training Office (Design/Analysis) · Goal: Put it together…Synthesize knowledge of construction materials on 'micro' and 'macro' scale into engineering analysis and design · Depending on knowledge base, assist technical staff in a variety of roles · Drafting, calculations, cross-sections, developing lab programs, boring logs, report preparation · As appropriate, client engagements and meetings Laboratory - Spend one week in one of our four Lab Locations - San Ramon, Lathrop, Rocklin or Valencia · GOAL: Expand understanding of construction materials properties; increase familiarity with standard testing procedures. · Work with ENGEO laboratory operations systems · Assist with laboratory tests, including: · Compaction curves · Cylinders · Atterberg limits · Gradation Let's have fun! · You are part of the family! - Events - picnics, barbecues, informal social outings · Intern workshop and team event - in the corporate office Who we are and what we do Founded in 1971, ENGEO is an employee-owned firm of approximately 400+ geotechnical and civil engineers, geologists, hydrologists, water resources engineers, environmental scientists, and construction-phase field representatives.
