Description

Geo-Technology Associates, Inc. (GTA) is currently seeking a Laboratory Technician for our Construction Observation & Testing group in Abingdon, MD. As a Laboratory Technician, you will assist the Lab Manager in performing asphalt, concrete, and aggregate testing in accordance with published standards and laboratory policies and procedures. You will also be responsible for record keeping, test reporting, maintaining field and lab equipment and various other duties related to laboratory operations.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing
  • Ability to achieve applicable certifications within 90 days after hire date
  • Reliable, punctual, ability to take direction from others
  • Ability to use and maintain equipment and supplies safely and effectively
  • Physically capable of lifting 50lbs or more on a regular basis
  • Basic math and computer knowledge

Responsibilities
  • Conduct a variety of laboratory tests as assigned, including soil moisture/density, CBR, grain size analysis, Atterberg limits, peel, and shear tests.
  • Prepare and test concrete, grout, and mortar specimens (cylinders, cores, masonry blocks, prisms) for compressive strength, both in the lab and in the field.
  • Perform quality control tests (e.g., temperature, slump, air content, unit weight, molding cylinders) following ASTM and other relevant standards.
  • Receive, log, handle, and maintain construction material samples, ensuring proper labeling and tracking.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory and field equipment; assist with calculations and reporting under supervision.
  • Complete daily reports, data entry, and test documentation accurately and timely.
