Job Description: Parsons are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Lead to oversee soil, foundation, and geotechnical investigations for a major airport development project. The role involves leading geotechnical design, site investigation, laboratory testing, and construction monitoring for airfield pavements, foundations, and earthworks. The ideal candidate will have 15 years of experience in geotechnical engineering for large-scale infrastructure projects, including airports, highways, or heavy civil works. What You’ll Be Doing: Develop and implement geotechnical investigation programs, including drilling, sampling, and testing. Perform soil, rock, and groundwater analysis to support foundation and earthworks design. Review and approve geotechnical design reports, specifications, and recommendations. Provide expert advice on shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures, embankments, and pavements. Collaborate with design and construction teams to ensure geotechnical requirements are incorporated into civil works. Monitor ground improvement and specialized foundation works. Oversee geotechnical monitoring, instrumentation, and field testing during construction. Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Identify and mitigate geotechnical risks impacting construction or operations. Liaise with design consultants, contractors, and airport authorities on geotechnical matters. Review subcontractor works, quality control documentation, and testing results. Provide technical guidance and recommendations to project management teams. What Required Skills You’ll Bring: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering. Minimum 15 years of geotechnical engineering experience, with a strong background in airport, airfield, or large civil infrastructure projects. Expertise in soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and pavement design. Experience with geotechnical instrumentation, field testing, and laboratory testing methods. Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in geotechnical software (PLAXIS, GEO5, Settle3D, etc.) and MS Office. Professional certifications such as PE, Chartered Engineer, or equivalent. Familiarity with airfield pavement design standards (ACI, FAA, ICAO). Experience in risk assessment, slope stability analysis, and soil improvement techniques.
