GEOTECHNICAL SPECIALIST – PRINCIPAL ENGINEERING GEOLOGIST/GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER

Johnson Poole & Bloomer provide specialist Geoenvironmental, Minerals and Surveying services across the UK from offices in Brierley Hill & Glasgow. A full time Geotechnical Specialist is required in the geological team based in our Glasgow office.
Candidates will ideally have at least 10 years relevant experience, a strong technical ability with a degree in Geology or Geotechnical Engineering.
The candidate must have achieved Chartered status (CGeol or CEng) with a strong background in technical report writing.
Duties will be largely concerned with undertaking geotechnical services for the minerals and construction industry. This will include undertaking Regulation 32 Appraisals and Regulation 33 Geotechnical Assessments in accordance with the Quarries Regulations 1999, the compilation of Quarry Development Plans (QDP), slope stability assessments for soil and rock slopes and the organisation and management of site investigations. The role will involve close liaison and working with the other departments of the business.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Chartered status (CGeol or CEng).
  • A minimum Degree in Geology/Engineering Geology/Geotechnical Engineering (or related geological discipline).
  • A post graduate Degree in a relevant geological subject would be preferable but not essential.
  • Experience in the UK quarrying industry and knowledge of the Quarries Regulations 1999 would be preferable but not essential.
  • Experience in using AutoCAD, LSS and Rocscience software (Slide, Dips etc.).
  • A full UK driving licence.
