Description

CTL|Thompson, Inc. is seeking a Geotechnical Staff Engineer for full-time employment with our Fort Collins, CO office. The Staff Engineer will work at the direction of a managing engineer to complete design projects primarily involved with soil exploration and foundation investigations for commercial, residential, and municipal projects. The candidate would be responsible for performing a variety of studies including but not limited to drilling programs, geotechnical investigations, soil evaluations, pavement design and geological hazards.
Staff Engineers are paid an annual salary between $65,000.00 and $90,000.00 plus discretionary bonuses. REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • B.S in civil, geotechnical or related engineering field.
  • EIT designation or ability to obtain it within 6 months for employees who have a qualifying engineering discipline degree.
  • 0-5 years of relative engineering experience.
  • At least 6 months of experience in an Engineering Field Technician position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Ability to walk around constructions sites with uneven and varying terrain.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
Responsibilities

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct studies involving geotechnical investigations foundation, slope stability, pavement design and earth retention.
  • Perform testing and sampling on various geotechnical materials.
  • Prepare project documents and deliverables for clients.
  • Log borings for geotechnical studies.
  • Develop engineering recommendations for review by a senior engineer.
  • Use relevant software to aid with project analysis.
  • Perform and review field and lab tests for use in engineering analysis and reports.
  • Plan field and subsurface investigations.
  • Attending project meetings.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
