Description
A well-established independent credit investment platform with a strong focus on distressed debt and complex special situations in Western Europe is seeking to add an experienced Distressed Associate to its investment team. The platform invests across the capital structure in event-driven, downside-protected situations, including restructurings, refinancings, stressed and distressed credits, as well as selected asset-backed and real estate-related opportunities. The investment philosophy is credit-led, execution-driven and highly analytical. The role is designed for a seasoned credit professional (5–8 years of experience) who is capable of independently analysing, executing and managing complex transactions throughout their lifecycle. Tasks Identification, screening and in-depth analysis of distressed and special situations credit investments Development of robust cash flow, downside and recovery analyses Building and maintaining detailed financial and restructuring models Preparation of investment memoranda and internal decision materials Coordination and execution of financial, legal and commercial due diligence Active involvement in transaction structuring and negotiations (documentation, security, covenants) Ongoing monitoring and management of portfolio situations, including restructurings and enforcement scenarios Direct interaction with company management, insolvency administrators, lenders and external advisors Requirements 5–8 years of relevant experience in distressed or special situations investing, credit opportunities, leveraged finance, restructuring, investment banking or private equity Proven capability in credit analysis and transaction execution Strong understanding of capital structures, credit documentation and restructuring processes Excellent financial modelling and analytical skills Highly independent, structured and detail-oriented working style Strong communication skills and ability to operate in complex stakeholder environments Fluency in English required; additional European languages are a plus
