ABOUT THE ROLE:

Plusgrade is searching for an experienced Software Engineering Manager to contribute as a transformational leader to the growth of our engineering group and our engineering practices. If you are collaborative, curious, have Agile experience and you have built great teams before, come and talk to us.
As a Software Engineering Manager you would be responsible for leading the development of a Saas application on a cloud (AWS) powered infrastructure. You’ll need to be well versed and current in Agile practices and general software development technologies while exercising servant leadership. You will use your technical judgment, experience, and knowledge to build self organizing teams, work on long term strategy and lead teams from concept to deployment and support.
This position is part of the Software Engineering organization, will be located in Montreal and will report into the Director of Engineering. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Take ownership and drive three teams of talented backend and frontend Software Engineers to deliver quality products on time following Agile lean software development process.
  • Work on Reach channels that handle high volume and demand high availability.
  • You need a solid grasp of distributed systems, microservices architecture, message queues, and caching strategies.
  • Proactively seek partnerships and collaborate with multi-functional product development teams to define software strategy, product roadmap and technology roadmap.
  • You will champion CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and robust monitoring.
  • Build and grow a high-performance team through recruiting, coaching, engagement and performance management.
  • Build and nurture a culture in software organization of quality, ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement, and data driven decision making.
  • Drive software development process improvements by being a mentor and evangelist of best practice for the product engineering team.
  • Be responsible for the timeliness and quality of deliverables while motivating, engaging, and inspiring your team Promote a culture of feedback and transparent communication
