POSITION SUMMARY: Assists physicians with diagnostic and therapeutic GI procedures.  Responsible for care, maintenance, inventory and reorder of all GI related supplies and equipment. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:   EDUCATION:  Completion of high school or GED.  Prefer two years post high school education in related healthcare field, preferable in radiology, respiratory or nursing.    CERTIFICATION/LICENSES:  BLS certification.   SKILLS: Strong organizational skills; ability to work collaboratively with others; ability to work independently with minimal supervision.  Ability to read, write and speak fluent English; Spanish as a second language helpful.  Ability to work at a rapid pace under stressful conditions.   EXPERIENCE: Two years GI lab technician experience preferred, outpatient setting.   NATURE OF SUPERVISION: -Responsible to: Manager, Perianesthesia, Charge Nurse   - Bloodborne pathogens: C ENVIRONMENT: Requires knowledge of safety standards to limit exposure to infectious disease and strong chemicals.  In daily contact with body fluids of patients.   PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Operates, cleans and maintains procedure equipment such as endoscopes, video and microprocessor instruments, biopsy forceps, stints, cautery, etc.  Moves from one area to another within the hospital and/or clinic.  Positions patients, lifts and moves equipment throughout hospital.  Able to serve in limited nursing assistant role in Out Patient Procedure Clinic.
