ProTemps is hiring for 1-2 EXPERIENCED Cribbers to help our client to build a 2,500sq ft shop 7 miles North of Gibson, AB. (Approx 30 mins from Edmonton)

JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Cribber to join our team. The Cribber will be responsible for constructing and maintaining wooden, metal, or composite cribbing systems used to stabilize heavy loads, support excavation sites, or secure work areas. This role requires strong physical ability, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of safety procedures and construction techniques.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous experience in cribbing is a MUST -

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to challenges encountered on-site
  • Knowledge of cribbing techniques, materials, and safety procedures
  • Ability to lift heavy materials and work in physically demanding environments
  • Comfortable working at heights or in confined spaces, if required
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Valid minimum Class 5 driver’s license and reliable vehicle
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials;
  • MUST have excellent attention to detail and precision in measurements and cuts.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Outdoor work environments; exposure to varying weather and environmental conditions
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as steel toe safety boots, hard hats, gloves, safety boots, and eye protection, hearing protection
  • Bending, crouching, kneeling
  • Combination of sitting, standing, walking
  • Handling heavy loads
  • Physically demanding
  • MUST be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Work may involve long hours and weekend schedules depending on project needs
  • Knowledge of pouring is a plus

This position requires a proactive individual who can adapt to various tasks while maintaining high-quality standards in all aspects of construction work

Responsibilities

Build, install, and dismantle cribbing structures to support excavations, and stable support for concrete structures.

  • Read and interpret construction blueprints, sketches, and job specifications
  • Select appropriate cribbing materials based on load requirements and environmental conditions
  • Ensure all cribbing is installed in compliance with safety regulations
  • Inspect cribbing regularly to ensure structural integrity and make adjustments or repairs as needed
  • Collaborate with other construction crews to safely coordinate lifting, moving, or excavation operations
  • Operate hand and power tools (saws, drills, and hammers) used in cribbing and general construction tasks
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly store materials and tools
  • Report any unsafe conditions or incidents to supervisors immediately
