POSITION OVERVIEW

The Louisiana SPCA is seeking a dynamic and experienced Gift Officer – Individual Giving to join our Advancement Team. This position is primarily responsible for acquiring, cultivating, and soliciting a portfolio of individual donors and prospects with the capacity to give $1,000 or more annually, with a heightened focus on upgrading donors to Major Donor levels ($5,000+).
The Gift Officer will play a vital role in expanding the Louisiana SPCA’s 4Paws donor program ($1,000+), managing and growing a portfolio of leadership-level donors, and supporting volunteer activities in assigned markets. In addition, this role will oversee donor communications, stewardship, and the execution of individual giving plans, while managing volunteer leadership committees to broaden engagement and philanthropic impact.
The successful candidate will be a proven nonprofit fundraising professional with a track record of building and sustaining mutually beneficial donor relationships. This is an exciting opportunity for a fundraiser prepared to excel in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. The Gift Officer reports to the Advancement Director, works closely with the Advancement Team (which includes fundraising, marketing and communications), and collaborates across all departments to advance the mission of the Louisiana SPCA.
Requirements:
Key Responsibilities

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Minimum of 4 years of fundraising experience with a demonstrated ability to secure gifts between $1,000–$9,999.
Proven track record of identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors and volunteers.
Ability to work independently while building strong internal and external relationships.
Comfortable solicitation donations in person, on the phone or through written communication. able to tailor messaging for different audiences and donor needs.
Proficiency with donor databases and prospect research tools.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree in sales, marketing, fundraising, communications, public relations or related field or directly equivalent experience.?

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING ENVIRONMENT

The role requires regular talking, hearing, sitting, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.?
Must not be allergic to animals or nuts; able to work around all animals.
Potential exposure to animal bites and scratches.
Ability to work in a high-noise environment.
