Job Summary: The Giftshop Cashier/Host(ess) is the frontline ambassador for the Sou’Wester Gift Shop, responsible for providing friendly, efficient, and accurate service to all customers. This role requires a positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to handle transactions with precision in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about helping visitors find the perfect memento of their trip to Peggy’s Cove.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous experience in a retail or customer service role, particularly as a cashier, is an asset.
• Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail for accurate cash handling.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume tourist environment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/carry merchandise up to 20 lbs.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, holidays, and extended hours during peak season.
• A genuine interest in local culture, crafts, and providing a positive experience for visitors to Peggy’s Cove.
• Must be reliable, punctual, and possess a strong work ethic.

• Accurately process sales transactions using a POS system, including cash, credit/debit card, and other payment methods.
• Greet customers warmly and provide excellent customer service, assisting with product inquiries and recommendations.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting checkout area and sales floor.
• Assist with stocking shelves, merchandising products, and ensuring displays are attractive and well-maintained.
• Handle customer returns and exchanges in accordance with store policy.
• Be knowledgeable about the products offered in the gift shop, including local artisan crafts, Sou’Wester branded merchandise, and general souvenirs.
• Assist in maintaining inventory accuracy by reporting discrepancies or low stock levels.
• Adhere to all store policies and procedures, including those related to cash handling and security.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures as required.
